Why Sustainability is important
- Sustainability matters because it ensures the long-term health of the planet and society, allowing current and future generations to thrive.
- The social care sector is a significant contributor to carbon emissions and other forms of environmental impact. We use considerable amounts of energy, equipment and resources to provide care and support, which leads to waste and pollution.
- While our social care activities protect and restore health as well as save lives, we must always look to replenish nature’s battery, by giving back more than we take.
What we are doing
- By 2030 we will be net positive for nature and our people.
- Our biggest commitment to date is achieving B Corps status in November 2022.
- Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies that commit to balancing profit with purpose, considering the impact of their decisions on workers, communities, customers, and the environment. B Corps integrate social and environmental responsibility into their core operations, aiming for a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable economy.
- B Lab has recently verified our certification score for 2025 as 126.5. This places us in the top three organisations in the Southwest!
